-- Diversity, Equity & inclusion survey

A DEI Program that stands out.

Organizations that invest in diversity report greater ability to attract talent, more innovation, and stronger financial performance - but only when the program is grounded in real data, not good intentions.

-- Understand the basics

Three Core Components of DEI

Before starting your DEI journey, it helps to align on what the core terms of DEI mean and how they apply to your teams and organizations.

Diversity

The range of human differences- gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, and more. It addresses who your people are, but not how their work experiences differ.

Equity

The idea that everyone deserves access to the same opportunities to grow, while recognizing that people start from different places and organizations need to adjust practices accordingly.

Inclusion

Ensuring people of all identities feel welcome, valued, and actively engaged- and that everyone gets the same rights and opportunities as part of the collective.

-- Two More Concepts

What Ties It All Together

Belonging

Whether an employee feels secure, supported, and empowered to be their authentic self at work is a key outcome of inclusion, and it directly affects how engaged and committed they feel.

Intersectionality

How multiple aspects of a person's identity combine, overlap, and interact- sometimes compounding (dis) advantage. It's a framework, not a checkbox, and it should apply to every DEI effort you run.

-- Best Practices

DEI Is A Shared Responsibility, Not A Project

  • Know who your employees are. Self-reported demographics fill gaps that HRIS data alone often misses.
  • Run inclusion surveys, not just engagement surveys. Watch participation rates and score gaps across demographics, especially around voice and fairness.
  • Choose the right methodology for your organization. Some start with an engagement survey before a full inclusion survey; others do better with regular pulse surveys.

Whichever approach you choose, set clear expectations with employees on why and how the data will be used- that's what makes the resulting action credible.
